Super Liquid Soccer: The Floppy Physics Game

I love soccer. I love watching the World Cup. I love playing FIFA. But sometimes, you don’t want a serious simulation. Sometimes, you want to watch a bunch of wobbly orange stick figures fall over.

That is Super Liquid Soccer.

This game falls into the glorious category of soccer games unblocked that rely on “drunk physics.” You know the type. The players don’t run like athletes. They run like they have noodles for legs. They drift. They float. They miss the ball completely and kick the air.

And it is absolutely hilarious.

The first time I played, I tried to pass the ball to my striker. My defender spun in a circle, tripped over his own feet, and the ball slowly rolled into my own goal. I wasn’t even mad. I was laughing too hard.

But underneath the silliness, there is actually a pretty fun game here. Liquid Soccer lets you play as different countries. You can play a tournament. You can even do penalty shootouts.

It requires a different skill set than other sports games. In Retro Bowl, you are managing stats and plays. Here, you are managing chaos. You have to predict where your floppy player is going to drift.

How to Play Super Liquid Soccer

The controls are simple, but controlling your player is not. That’s the challenge.

The Controls:

  • Move: Use the Arrow Keys or WASD.
  • Pass: Press M.
  • Shoot: Press J.
  • Chip / Lob: Press L.
  • Sprint: Press Shift (Use this sparingly, or you will run off the pitch).

Tips for Winning (or at least scoring once):

  1. Don’t Sprint on Defense: If you hold sprint while defending, your player will fly past the ball. It’s like they are on ice. Gentle taps on the movement keys are better.
  2. The Chip Shot is OP: The “L” key is your best friend. The goalkeepers in this game are actually pretty good at stopping ground shots. But they are terrible at jumping. If you get near the goal, just tap L to chip it over their head.
  3. Use the Walls: The ball bounces a lot. Use the sidelines to bank the ball around defenders.
  4. Accept the Chaos: You are going to miss open nets. Your goalie is going to dive the wrong way. It happens. Just embrace the wobble.

If you like this kind of physics-based struggle, you will love Unicycle Hero. It has that same “balancing act” feel. Or, if you want to build things instead of falling over, check out Bloxd.io.

But for a quick match with a friend (or the computer) that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Liquid Soccer is the champion. It’s weird, it’s wobbly, and it’s wonderful.
