Most racing games tell you to follow the “racing line.” They tell you to brake before the corner and accelerate out smoothly.
Drift Hunters says, “Forget that. Let’s go sideways.”
This is one of the best car drifting games online because it understands car culture. You don’t just pick a car; you build it.
You start with a Toyota AE86 (the classic tofu delivery car). You hit the track. You earn points by drifting. The longer you hold the drift, the more points you get.
Then you go to the garage. You can buy a Nissan GTR, a Supra, or a Porsche. But buying the car is just step one. You can upgrade the turbo. You can change the brake balance. You can lower the suspension and put on custom rims.
The physics feel surprisingly heavy. You can feel the weight of the car shift. It’s similar to the sliding mechanics in Snow Rider 3D, but on asphalt and with way more smoke.
How to Play Drift Hunters
Drifting isn’t about mashing the gas. It’s about throttle control.
The Controls:
- Accelerate: Up Arrow or W.
- Brake: Down Arrow or S.
- Steer: Left/Right Arrows or A/D.
- Handbrake: Spacebar. (This is your “start drift” button).
- Gear Shift: Left Shift / Left Ctrl (If you use manual).
Drifting 101:
- Enter the Corner Fast: Speed is your friend.
- Kick the Clutch: Tap the Spacebar (Handbrake) to break traction. The back of the car will slide out.
- Counter-Steer: This is the hard part. If you are turning Left, and the back slides out, you need to steer Right to keep the car on the road.
- Feather the Gas: Don’t hold the gas down 100%. Tap it to keep the wheels spinning, but not so much that you spin out.
- Chain Drifts: The combo meter is how you get rich. Try to transition from a left drift directly into a right drift without driving straight.
Tuning Tips:
- Turbo is Key: Upgrade this first. More power = easier wheel spin.
- Hard Tires: In the tuning menu, don’t put on super sticky racing tires. You want to slide.
- Camber: Add some negative camber to the front wheels. It helps with steering while sideways.
